Half-N-Half

Cameron's Heat took on Our Lady of Victory today. After a TON of rain last night and a pretty crumby morning of weather, we ended up with yet another beautiful day for baseball (perhaps Ruth was in the the mood to enjoy some baseball today).

Game #1 - This one got to the 5th inning knotted at 5-apiece. When the Heat came up to bat in the their half of the frame, they exploded for 6 runs. The Heat then managed the final 2 innings to ring up an 11-8 win. Cameron had a fantastic game. Going 2 for 2 at the plate, and getting on base a total of 4 times (one from catcher's interference, one by taking a walk)... Cameron had 1 RBI, scored two runs and nailed a Victory boy trying to steal 2nd Base with a killer throw from behind the plate. Excellent game, Cameron!

Game #2 - Through five innings, all was tied up at 3-apiece. And while I'm not often one to 'cry foul'... this one was determined by the umpires. An AWFUL display of confusion at third base... a Victory boy was clearly out trying to make it to third. The field ump called him 'safe' while the plate ump called him 'out'. The plate ump has the power to over-rule the field ump... and today, for whatever reason, the plate ump (who had called the boy 'out') conceded and allowed the field ump (who's vantage point was blocked by a body) to have final say. Next Victory kid up to bat knocked that very kid on third across the plate. And that brought things to the eventual final score: Victory 4, Heat 3. Cameron played about half the game in right field. Cameron... keep your head. Don't let a call like that (no matter how bad it was) get to you.
